Lillian C. Gaither - Attorney
Lillian C. Gaither began her legal career as an ABA Accredited Paralegal and soon found that she wanted to go further with her legal education. She returned to school and graduated in 2008 summa cum laude from Arizona State University (ASU) with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice. At ASU, she maintained Dean's List grades and was a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society and the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. She served as a research assistant on a project involving the "Civil Commitment of Sexually Violent Predators."
After completing her undergraduate degree, Lillian attended Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and received her Juris Doctor degree in May 2011. She was a Willard H. Pedrick Scholar and the ASU Chapter Secretary of the ABA Law Student Division. She was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International (Hugo Black Chapter), and the Christian Legal Society.
She has practiced law since December 2011 and has a wide variety of experience in state and federal courts. Lillian has worked in many areas of the law including civil litigation, trusts and estate planning, probate and trust administration, labor and employment, family law, real estate law, eminent domain and condemnation defense, special education, consumer protection, and her personal favorite, independent adoption. An expert legal researcher and writer, she has a keen interest in techniques for dispute resolution.
Lillian has always had a passion for social justice, serving those who cannot speak for themselves or do not have adequate access to legal services. With the Law Office of Jarrett Adams, she seeks to get justice for those who the system has wronged. She was often on the receiving end of racial pressure as a child in Hawaii. This experience gave her a deep understanding of people, and in particular, the plight of those who are disadvantaged when dealing with the justice system.
She is admitted to the California state bar and three of California's U.S. District Courts: the Eastern District, Central District, and Southern District.
Born in Northern California, Lillian grew up in Hawaii and still considers herself an "island girl" at heart. She has lived in warm places all her life - Hawaii, California, Arizona – and now splits her time between Central California and the cooler climate of Rapid City, South Dakota.
A lifelong fan of the arts, Lillian has taught dance classes for children, teens, and adults for many years. She also hopes to begin writing her novel soon. Lillian enjoys hiking, kayaking, and other outdoor activities in the Black Hills of South Dakota and visits the ocean (any ocean) as often as possible. She has an adult daughter and toddler grandson who keep her on her toes.
Lillian's creed is "Live with Intention!"
